Adam is a graduate student in the Chemistry Department at U.C. Berkeley and a member of the Charles B. Harris group, where he uses ultrafast spectroscopy to understand the properties of organometallic systems. In his free time, he runs a photography blog, decaseconds.com.

Anna is a graduate student in the Chemistry department at UC Berkeley. Her days are mostly spent making nanomaterials and hoping they will turn out to be useful for solar energy conversion.
Brian is a graduate student in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences department. He has done research on semiconductor physics and photovoltaics, and his current objective is to build a computer out of nano-sized magnets.
Chris is a graduate student in neuroscience. He studies cognitive and computational neuroscience, attempting to link higher-level theories of the mind with information processing in the brain. He also writes a science blog called This Is Your Brain On Awesome.
Erin is entering the world of graduate studies Fall 2011 in Integrative Biology. She wants to learn about everything but specify on something - stay tuned for what that something is! Non-sciency interests include climbing, sunshine, and training to join the circus.
Jessica is a graduate student at UC Berkeley. The series "Science in Sacramento" was born out of her interest and involvement in both science and local politics. As an informed scientist, she feels everyone should know that graduate student loans are no longer subsidized and sometimes plants eat birds.
Kristina is an undergraduate in the Psychology department. She is currently conducting research on the genes that regulate neural plasticity in the song control nuclei in European Starlings. In her free time she enjoys antiquing, reading novels under whimsical looking trees, and learning cool sciency things.
Liz is a graduate student in Materials Science and Engineering. For research, she studies the material properties of fossil bones. Outside of graduate school, she enjoys backpacking, cycling, and soccer. Liz has been a BSR blog contributor since summer 2010.
Piper is a Ph.D. Candidate in Chemistry at UC Berkeley studying inorganic chemistry in the laboratory of Professor Kenneth N. Raymond. She received a B.S. with Honors in Chemistry from Trinity College (Hartford, CT) in 2009. She spends her time investigating the next generation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents and enjoys hanging out with her four show hunter ponies.
